Come and have some fun with clay in the peaceful setting of my studio located in the garden of our home in Exmouth. Make something in clay from start to finish!
I offer a half-day, full day workshops and now Monday evenings which are relaxed and fun, and as comprehensive as you want to be- aimed at at those who are beginners or those who wish to have a more in-depth experience.
You can create pieces which will be made using all the fundamental ceramics disciplines – so as well as hand-building and sculpting, you have a choice of pinching, slab building and throwing too!
The workshops are structured to be fun and creative, and you can let your imagination run wild during your tuition. The sessions are hands-on, and you will be able to use all the studio facilities (clay, various tools and the pottery wheel etc.)
At the end of the workshop, you can choose pieces that you wish to have glazed and fired.
Once your pieces have dried sufficiently, I will then fire your pieces.
You can come back and paint them for no extra charge and I will then glaze fire them.
These can then be either collected (if you live locally) or I can post them (I have to charge postage and packaging).
Please understand that it takes a few weeks for pieces to dry thoroughly and for me to then biscuit fire, glaze and subsequently glaze fire them.

What’s included in the price?
- All tools and materials are included. We have aprons available, but you may wish to bring your own smock/shirt/apron. It’s important that you wear comfortable shoes and clothing.
- Refreshments (tea/coffee/soft drinks) are provided for all workshops, and a light, rustic farmhouse-style lunch will be provided for the full-day workshops.
- The studio is equipped with a wedging table, large table for hand building, two pottery wheels and a top-loader kiln.
- The session is either for one or a small group of people; this ensures that you get the maximum benefit from the day with no distractions.
- The age limit is 16+
- I am insured.
Cancellation policy – Easy – Cancel no less than 2 days of your booking date then full refund given.
Prices
½ day (approx 3 hrs,) includes tools and materials, 2 firings, and refreshments plus taking up to three made pieces = £70 – 10% £63
1 day = (approx 6 hours) includes tools, 2 firings and materials, lunch and refreshments plus taking up to six made pieces = £140 – 10% £126
Six week course
If you would like 6 x 1/2 day course (totals 18 hrs) I will of course give you a discount.
Below is an example of a basic schedule if you want to cover different disciplines for a 6 week course:-
the first session we can start with a different discipline, coiling
the second session we can do coiling and slab building
the 3rd session we can do slab building, decorative
the 4th session we can do the wheel
5th session we can do the wheel
the last session we can catch up and finalise on coiling, slab building and the wheel.
All this of course can be adapted to your preference.
Costs for the 6 week course (18 hrs) is:- £420 – 10% = £378 (a small deposit would be needed).
If you would like to spread your 18 hrs out – for example on Monday nights on a 2 hr basis – over 9 weeks, thats fine and you would get a discount too.
